Hey all, I was wondering if chewing sugarless gum is a problem at all. It makes logical sense to me that it would not be, but it never hurts to ask. Also, today is my first day and it's all been ok so far except for cloudy thinking. I feel a burst of clarity every couple of hours when I rub the beads, but is there a way to help alleviate the slowness of thought and fatigue?

Hi! Dr. Nash said that sugarfree gum is okay. Today was my first full day and I feel the way you described. I also found I couldn't eat 1.5 lbs fruits and veggies and had about 1 pound. I'm assuming the cloudiness and fatigue is just the first few days of your body adjusting. GL!!! :P

When I got to a plateau, dr. Nash told me not to chew gum at all. I think it helped.

When I feel fatigued and run down and I can't make a cup of tea, I have a teaspoon of honey and that usually helps :)

The fatigue was definitely my body adjusting to the first day. Since then I've had a ton of energy, and have been more productive then I've been in quite a while. Crazy. I thought not eating until noon would be horrible, b/c I'm a huge breakfast person, but I've found not worrying about food or meals to be an incredible weight lifted off my shoulders. I've lost 11 lbs and it's day 7! Hope all of you are doing well too.

GREENEBEANE congrats on your 11 lb weight loss and thanks for bringing up the gum question. I had the same question and although I know we better not to have any gum on this diet at least I know I can have a sugerlesss gum occasionally.
